Cathleen Ann Gouveia, Allied ASID

Nothing is more exciting than that moment a house becomes a home. So how would you feel about having an award-winning Interior Designer by your side helping you uncover what that vision of home might be? My name is Cathleen Gouveia, and I'd be excited to embark with you on this journey. I believe that by working together, we can create an environment in your home that won,t leave you speechless. But instead, will leave you uttering these five simple words: "This place is so me." I like to take a conceptual perspective that is unique to the history and vernacular of a building; and the rich personal history and experiences of my clients. Elegant refined furnishings, a rich design palette, and a mix of natural textures often distinguish my work from others. Having studied in Europe, I have established a cornucopia of unique design sources, artisans and suppliers. My focus is on delivering high-end residential interior design to homes in the San Francisco Bay Area, Lake Tahoe, and beyond-while offering the highest level of customer service and project management. My work has been featured on Home and Garden Television (HGTV), California Home and Living Television, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Marin Independent Journal, and several other design periodicals. I have managed the interior architecture and design, and the selection of furnishings, art and antiques for an array of projects ranging from 1,500 sq. ft. pied-A-terres, to collaborating with full-service design teams on homes exceeding 15,000 sq. ft. I earned my MFA in Interior Architecture and Design from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence, Rhode Islandone of the most highly regarded design schools in the world; and studied European architecture, art and design in France and Italy while in residence at RISD. Additionally, I completed post-baccalaureate studies in art, architecture and design at The New York School of Interior Design, The School of Visual Arts, and The City College of San Francisco. Before I launched my own firm, I was fortunate to learn and grow as a designer from a number of prestigious high-end residential design firms in Boston and San Francisco. I am an Allied Member of the ASID, a Member of IIDA and IDS. Currently I am the President-Elect for ASID California North and serve on the Board of Directors. I was elected by my peers to become the President of ASID California North in 2016-17. In my free time, I love to travel, and feed my passion for art, design, music and boating; as well as my love of the great outdoors. I divide my time between San Francisco, CA; Bay Head, NJ; and East Hampton, NY.
