Sharon S. Hayslip Smith, ASID, IIDA

Sherry Hayslip is the President and principal designer at Hayslip Design Associates, which she founded in 1974 in Dallas, Texas. Ms. Hayslip majored in comparative studies at Southern Methodist University, with focus on art history, literature and aesthetic philosophy, matriculating with a BFA in 1975. Additional studies include Parsons School in Italy, University of Wisconsin for Ergonomics, and continuing graduate studies at SMU. Ms. Hayslip believes that a successful residential interior should reflect the interests and values of the client, with the designer acting as a guide. Her work has ranged from historic to contemporary, with quality and attention to the subtlest details being the common denominator. She is proud to have been recognized by her peers for her work by numerous local ASID Design Ovation and national ASID awards. Ms. Hayslips work has been featured in several dozen popular and trade publications. Together with her husband, Cole Smith, she co-founded the Dallas Symposium for Arts and Architecture, benefiting the Dallas Museum of the Arts. Ms. Hayslip also serves on numerous boards and committees for interior design, the arts, historic preservation and charitable organizations. She has often spoken to audiences regarding a variety of topics related to interior design.
